Born in Natal/RN, Revd Father Jorge Aquino is a graduate, specialist and master in Theology; Graduated and Master in Philosophy and specialist in Civil Law. He was Minister of the Anglican Episcopal Church Brazil (IEAB) for 12 years, assuming the positions of Priest of the Campus Chapel of Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, of Minister in a mission in João Pessoa, President of the Anglican Theology Seminary in Recife, Archdeacon of Paraíba and Rio Grande do Norte, and representative of the IEAB in the National Council of Christian Churches/RN (CONIC), in the National Ecumenical Council to Combat of Racism (CENACORA), in addition to participating as a full member of the Theological Education Board (JUNET), of the Centro of Anglican Studies (CEA) and having served as an advisor to the University Biblical Alliance and having participated in the Evangelical Fellowship in the Anglican Communion (EFAC). In Natal, arriving as vice-president of the Center of Human Rights and Popular Memory for seven year. He won the state prize for Human Rights. As a university professor, he taught on Ethics and Legal Dentology, History of Law, Legal Sociology, Philosophy of Law and Legal Hermeneutics in the Graduate and Postgraduate Program of several law courses. He is the author of 6 books and several articles in legal and theological books and journals, in addition to the entry “Anglicanism” in the Brazilian Dictionary of Theology. He was also coordinator of the Center for Research in Law and editorial coordinator of the Legal Magazine caled Ágora, at the Faculty of Natal.
His ministry turns today on the formation of new clerics and also on the ministry of counseling couples and carrying out Weddings, Baptisms, Religious Blessings and Marriages in Portuguese, English, Spanish and Italian. Due to his academic activity Revd Jorge Aquino was appointed and served as Theological Canon by the Diocese of Japi until its merger with the Anglican Diocese of Votorantin. He was latter, appointed Director of Formation at the Free Church of England in Brazil and, after that, he acted as a clergy member of the Parish of Saint George (Anglican Episcopal Church of Chile), and was appointed Theological Canon of the Anglican Educational Institute of Saint George.
Married to Mônica Borges, Father Aquino is currently responsible for the Anglican Community of the Holy Family, a group that brings together families in the search for communion, coexistence and Christian maturity, in Natal/RN.
